What is Mock Trial?
Mock Trial is a simulation of a criminal trial using a hypothetical case, developed by Teach Democracy, based on California law. AVHS high school students compete as prosecution or defense with judges and attorneys scoring and presiding over the trials.
Mock trial helps students acquire a working knowledge of our judicial system, develop analytical abilities and communication skills, and gain an understanding of their obligations and responsibilities as participating members of our society.
Why Donate to Mock Trial?
- Travel Costs: Donations fund vital registration fees, transportation, and lodging so our team can attend regional and national tournaments.
- Equal Access: Financial support ensures low-income or under-resourced students are not left behind due to budget constraints.
- Essential Materials: Contributions buy case binders, legal pads, timers, and supplies used in practice and competitions
- Student Growth: Funding directly builds students' public speaking confidence, critical thinking, and leadership skills.
